The Village at Palisades Tahoe Hotel

The room was nice and very clean. It had a full service kitchen, a living area and separate bedroom. My only issue is that where we happened to stay, our upstairs neighbors were SO LOUD all night. I could hear them stomping around their room starting at 11am. It sounded like they were moving boxes, rearranging the furniture and closing cabinets as hard as possible. Then, at 4am, they started playing music. It only lasted for 10-15 minutes but I could literally feel the vibrations through the walls. Of course by the time security could come and ask them to keep it down, they were as silent as possible... I called the front desk at 1am and their automated phone service said no one could take my call. I called again at 4 when they started playing music and was able to get someone on the line. The employee was super nice and helpful. I found out that the suite above us was a "private suite", meaning it's someone's vacation home basically. If you stay here, make sure you're on the top floor or there's no one near you. We went Monday to Wednesday the first week everyone is back in school so we were really shocked by the noise issue. I would expect this on a busy weekend but not the weekday.

Location is great. The room had very old, hard and uncomfortable furniture. The kitchen didn't have oil or salt and pepper. It also had 10+ yr old plates so even with oil the food stuck to them. All of the food in the village is bad so you'll end up driving to Truckee for meals. The grocery store in the village is more like a 7-11. In our unit the bedroom door wouldn't close and a few of the lights didn't work. You're 100 feet from the lifts so that's amazing but I'd still rather stay in Truckee or Donner because everything else is such low quality here.

Be aware of the nightly $48 resort fee! Even though we paid $60 tax and fees for a standard room when booked online, which I thought included the resort fee, the front desk insisted paying the $48 again because they did not receive the resort fee from the online booking. They said the resort fee covers coffee and fitness, but these are very standard for any hotels and should be included with the nightly rate. Then we found out that The Village is not a hotel, but a condo building where the management rents out the rooms for owners. The standard room we are staying in is much smaller than a typical hotel room. They claim that each room is owned by its separate owner so quality is not guaranteed, which is true - maybe the owner of our room failed to maintain his/her property - the window blind fell off in our room, and the coffee maker lid was broken, and there was not enough lighting which made the room very dark.
